Just like a fine wine, certain things just get better and better with age. There’s a history and character to things that have seen decades; a story waiting to be told. Or, some things just look better with a little bit of fray and tarnish added to them. Either way, I spent my fair share of time searching through the Etsy archives for my favorite vintage Romanian pieces and I’m excited to share them with you! (Though I really wish I could just up and buy them all, instead!)

001. Romanian Military Backpack (1970s/1980s)
This backpack is to die for, from the soft olive color and leather accents to the pristine quality for something that’s potentially 50 years old, I’m in love. If I weren’t already swimming in unused bags (not to mention having traded every backpack/purse I own for a diaper bag…) I would 100% nab this.

002. Vintage Romanian Decanter (1960s)
I have nothing to decant, and yet I still want this decanter. It has such a unique shape and sheen, I’ve honestly never seen something similar to it… not that I’m often int he market for decanters. It’d look great as an addition to a bar cart or kitchen shelf!

003. Vintage Romania & Bulgaria Map (1965)
Maps are some of my favorite kinds of artwork to display around the house. There’s something beautiful and mystical in the yellowing pages and distant functionality that makes it a unique statement to show off. I have a few of Milwaukee (where I live) in my house, and I’d love to add one (or two…) of my beloved Romania, too!

004. Vintage Antique Romanian Peasant Blouse (1960s/1970s)
I’ve been wanting a Romanian peasant blouse, and this one does not disappoint. The length of both the sleeves and hem give it a slightly more modern feel even for being from the 1960s or 70s. Also: that motif is one of my favorites and in the traditional Romanian Red™.

005. Minimal Romanian Kilim Carpet (1980s)
So while I wouldn’t consider the 80s vintage like the others on this list, this carpet was too good to pass up. I’m not usually a fan of the light-colored carpets (what with a cat, dog, and baby just waiting to mess it up), but I love the subtle patterns hidden in this one, just barely a different color so you really have to pay attention to see it. It’s also huge at 8’x10′!

Bonus! Romanian Bell Sleeve Folk Blouse with Embroidered Neckline (1960s)
I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with two vintage blouses, but here we are! This one is so very different from the other and somehow feels older even though they’re from around the same time period. What I’m saying is I’d wear them both, no question! (I especially like the pairing with the high waisted shorts!)
